Israel
and Palestine
By Kempion
Why is Israel
such a problem? Hmmm, ever ask yourself
that? I have time and again. So, I started doing some investigating. What I've found is very disturbing.
First of all, Israel
was created in the aftermath of WWII as a form of reparations to the Jewish
population of Europe (small e) for the war crimes
committed against their people. At least
the was the outward motivation. The land
that was set aside for the creation of Israel
was occupied by the United Kingdom
for nearly a century and included North Africa, the
Saudi Arabian peninsula and Persia
(Iran/Iraq). The structure and design of
land distribution amongst present day countries in that region was set up by
the United Kingdom
without much regard for the local populations.
I give the UK
credit for bringing civilization to that region; however, they set into motion
the problems that we have over there today.
--- The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
Israel
was designed to be a Palestinian and Jewish state. The problem with that is that Jordan
has refused to allow the Palestinians access to the land that was set aside for
Palestine. Currently, 80 percent of the land that was to
be Palestine is occupied by Jordan. Yes, it’s all about the oil.
Most Arabs and Jews IN Israel manage to get along. The problems that face Israel
come from outside of its borders. The
majority of Muslims simply see Israelis as an occupying force in their holy
land. With all of their neighbors being
Muslim, its easy to see why Israel
is so defensive, heck they have been invaded three times in the past by ALL of
their neighbors attacking them at once.
(Oh, they kicked serious butt, by the way... just a little FYI.)
Alright now that we know the hows and whys of the creation
process, let's look into the politics.
Throughout the early 20th century, Jews were vilified in all
parts of Europe.
And, given the opportunity to send the Jews away to a foreign land, most
Europeans jumped on the bandwagon. Which
countries lead the way in this effort? France
and Germany. Is anyone surprised? Let's face
it, when it comes to hatred for Jews no one can compete with "Vichy"
France and Nazi Germany? Britain
had its own internal sentiments about the Jews but it never really reared its
ugly head like it did in France
and Germany
during the 1920's, 30's and 40's. Britain,
in an effort to appease Europe, quell existing tensions in Europe and to
protect/make reparations to the Jews who had suffered so much more than the
rest of the European population created the land of Israel/Palestine from its
own territories in the middle east.
That's history. How
do we fix the current problems?
First of all, Britain
should be placed squarely in the middle of the process. This would give them a chance to undo the
damage that the UK
did. Next, Jordan
has to come to accept that Palestine
exists primarily within their borders. Jordan
must give up the land that is Palestine. And, lastly, the Muslim world must accept
that Israel is
a sovereign state and is entitled to exist.
Israel
has been extremely tolerant to this point.
Some may argue that Israel
has been ruthless. The fact is, Israel
has agreed to UN mandates only to be attack; Israel
has signed numerous agreements with the Palestinian authority only to be attacked
again and again. Israel
has reacted defensively to being attacked.
They are not the aggressors. If
and when they act in a seemingly unprovoked fashion, you can bet that Israeli
intelligence has good information on what's going on or about to happen. Surgical, pre-emptive strikes are acceptable.
With the UN becoming more and more irrelevant, it is likely
that there will be another Muslim assault on Israel. Will the world turn blind eye or will we act
to prevent the destruction loss of life?
